The Lodge is situated alongside the Wairaurahiri River right at the base of Fiordland National Park. If the weather is clear, the Solander Islands and Rakiura (Stewart Island) can be seen from standing on the south coast beach, just a few minutes walk from the Lodge.
The owners of Waitutu Incorporation, welcome guests to Waitutu Forest Lodge to have a “Waitutu Experience”.
Here, guests are offered a unique insight into our world that has been shaped by our Tupuna, our Māori culture, our traditions, our environment and our whakapapa.

Waitutu Forest Lodge is managed by Waitutu Incorporation for its shareholders. This is a Māori Incorporation which was formed as a result of SILNA (South Island Landless Natives Act). The forest was compensation land from the Crown. The shareholders of the Incorporation regard the Waitutu Forest and Lodge as a taonga and their Tūrangawaewae
